App permissions

Last updated October 28, 2026 · Belmont Labs Inc.

iOS asks you before an app can use the camera, your photos, Face ID or notifications. This page says what each one is for in Pawnace, what happens if you say no, and how to change your mind.

Why the app asks

Every permission in Pawnace is optional. You can pay a bill, read your code and use pay over time without granting any of them. The app asks only when you tap a feature that needs it, and explains why in the iOS prompt.

Camera

Used for: taking a photo of your pet, scanning a pet-insurance card or vaccination record, taking a profile photo, and (for clinics) photographing verification documents during onboarding.
Not used for: anything in the background. The camera runs only while the capture screen is open, and nothing is recorded.
If you say no: choose a picture from Photos instead, or skip the photo.

Photos

Used for: choosing an existing picture of your pet or yourself, or uploading a document you already have.
Access: iOS lets you share only the photos you select; Pawnace never reads your library.
If you say no: use the camera, or skip it.

Face ID and Touch ID

Used for: optional two-factor sign-in and unlocking the app when you return to it, if you turn it on in Settings.
What we receive: only a yes or no from iOS. Your face or fingerprint never leaves the device and is never sent to Pawnace.
If you say no: sign in with your password.

Notifications

Used for: telling you a bill arrived, a payment was confirmed, a code was used, or a refund was issued. Clinics are notified when a pet parent pays. We do not send marketing notifications.
If you say no: everything still shows inside the app, and bills still arrive by text.

Text messages

Pawnace sends bills and sign-in codes by SMS to the mobile number on your account. These are transactional messages requested by you or by the clinic treating your pet, not marketing. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop; reply HELP or email support@towfiapp.com for help.

What Pawnace never asks for

  • Location. The pet-parent app does not request your location. The clinic app does not track staff.
  • Contacts, calendar, microphone, health data, Bluetooth, or tracking across other apps. Pawnace does not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency because it does not track you.

Changing a permission

On your iPhone, open Settings, scroll to Pawnace, and turn each permission on or off. Changes take effect immediately. Turning a permission off never removes anything from your account.

What the app collects and why is in the Privacy Policy.
